Public hearings held in two wards of Dhangadhi

Dhangadhi : A public hearing program started as a campaign in Dhangadhi sub-metropolis of Kailali has been completed in two wards on Friday.

The campaign has been completed in Ward No. 2 Santoshi Toll and Ward No. 5 Jai.

The National Dalit Network, in partnership with The Asia Foundation, has been conducting public hearings in all 19 wards of Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolis for the past one year under the project “Promoting Sustainable Good Governance through Empowerment of Human Rights Dignity and Socio-Economic Empowerment of Dalits”.

According to the organizers, there is a wide-ranging discussion between the people’s representatives and the service recipients about the accessibility of the Dalit community to the services provided by the ward office.

The public hearing program started from Ghorsuwa of Dhangadhi Sub-metropolis-11 on the 1st of this month. Earlier, ward no. 3 Bishalnagar, ward no. It is said that peace has been completed in Ward No. 15.

Ward No. 5 Chairman Hira Singh Patali was present as the keynote speaker at the public hearing organized at the grounds of Bhairav ​​Baba Temple near the ward office. An hour long question and answer session was held between Chairman Patli and the participants.

During the question and answer session, the participants complained that the Dalit community did not have access to the services provided by the ward office and they did not get the goats distributed by the ward office for the poor.

Participants said that they were deprived of the services provided by the municipality even though they were the mayor of the Dalit community and Nrip Bahadur Wad of the same ward.

During the reply, Chairman Patli said that there was no discrimination in the services provided by the ward. He said that the trainees themselves were not interested in providing loans at concessional interest rates to the ward office.

The program will be attended by all the office bearers affiliated to the ward level Dalit Rights Forum formed under the initiative project.

Gorakh Sarki, social mobilization officer of Sabal Project, informed about the purpose of the public hearing program, while Milan Pariyar, executive chairman of SAMATA Media Center, facilitated the program.
